Adrienne Gear
Keynote  • Reading & Writing Power Author
Early primary students will not get better at writing by just writing: they need skills, structure, and support! They need YOU! Join BC educator and author Adrienne Gear as she shares practice and effective ways to TEACH writing in a primary classroom. In this session, Adrienne will explore effective ways to develop a responsive writing program complete with formative assessment, writing goals, practice writes, mini lessons, and brain pocket writing! She will focus on different writing structures students should have experience with throughout the year, including personal narrative, nonfiction (writing in the content areas), and story writing. She will highlight lessons, share student samples, and, as always, highlight some of her favorite writing anchor books! Come to this session and leave inspired to start your new year with LOTS of practical ideas you can start implementing right away!

Big Daddy Tazz
Keynote  • Comedian & Motivational Speaker
A humorous look at life’s triumphs and tribulations through the eyes of someone living with mental illness. After thirty years of denying he had the mental illnesses that were controlling his life, Big Daddy Tazz realized that being a manic-depressive, attention deficit, socially anxious, obsessive-compulsive dyslexic could either destroy or enhance his life: the choice was his. A strong mental health advocate, who is often described as “one of the most talented comics in the business”, Tazz speaks candidly about his struggles, and ultimately his triumphs, over not only being diagnosed with mental illness, but facing the terrifying stigma that surrounds it. Audience members who live with mental illness and stigma (either their own or someone else’s), will find themselves empowered, inspired and proud of who they are, “warts” and all! Others gain a better understanding of how the ignorance of stigma can negatively impact so many, preventing them from finding the help they desperately seek. All will leave with the tools to make a positive, accepting difference as well as a heart full of laughter, light and compassion. This has never been more important than during these uncertain times of Covid fatigue and widespread social anxiety.  Tazz will take your audience on a journey to challenge old belief systems, build a better understanding of mental health challenges, and reimagine a more inclusive future. " Whether it’s a corporate event or charity fundraiser, comedy show or mental health keynote seminar, Tazz will make you laugh until you cry, and then laugh some more, it’s the bi-polar way.
Often described as one of the most talented comics in the business, Big Daddy Tazz has been delighting crowds from coast to coast at corporate events, fundraisers, festivals and on television for more than 30 years. Today, audiences are happy to join him on his rapid cycle ride down the never-ending road to recovery as he tours North America, bringing his good mental health message to audiences, drawing rave reviews and standing ovations!  Equal parts comedian and mental health advocate, Tazz educates, enlightens and inspires. After 30 years of denying he had the mental illnesses that were controlling his life, Big Daddy Tazz realized that being a manic-depressive, attention deficit, socially anxious dyslexic could either destroy or enhance his life, the choice was his. For the last 20 years Big Daddy Tazz has brought forth light and laughter for those living with mental Illness, by raising awareness on how stigma affects us all. Tazz believes in educating, embracing, and empowering everyone so that we can all stand tall and give stigma a bad name. His comedy appearances include the prestigious Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, the Moncton Comedy Festival, CBC’s The Debaters and the CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival, which can be seen frequently on CBC television and the Comedy Network.
