Local Presidents are reminded to send in the names of their Voting & Alternate Delegates as well as Local Observers as soon as they are available.

Please note that due to the October 2021 Annual Council being held in person (subject to Public Health Directives/Guidelines), all delegates will be required to re-register as we will need information on attendance at the Council Luncheon as well as hotel information.

Annual Council General Information:

  • Annual Council proceedings will take place at the Halifax Convention Centre in rooms B2-B3 on the Ballroom Level;
  • The President’s Reception will take place at the Hotel Halifax in the Baronet Ballrooms on the 8th
  • The HCC has rules concerning outside food and beverages for conferences held at the Convention Centre. If the food and beverage can be provided by the convention centre the locals would have to order it from them. In our case they are willing to permit small table snacks to be brought in by the respective locals but food, soft drinks, and whole fruit would all be required to be ordered through them as those are standard items on their menu.   Small table snacks are not something they provide so they are permitting them to be brought in.
  • HCC menu is attached.
  • Registration will be held at the Hotel Halifax from 4:15 until 6:45 p.m. on the 1st Floor in the MacDonald/McNab rooms. Late registration will be available in the NSTU Office located in room 501 on the Convention Level of the Halifax Convention Centre.

Additional Information:

  • The New Delegate Orientation Session will be provided by way of a webinar which will be posted on the NSTU website. A link will be emailed to new delegates in September.
  • The Council Awards Luncheon will be held on Saturday, October 2 in room B1 at the Halifax Convention Centre. Correspondence will be sent out to those locals with Local Service Award recipients at a later date regarding the luncheon.
  • The Council Workbooks were mailed out to currently registered delegates in April. These workbooks will be used for October Annual Council. If you have delegates not attending we ask that, if possible, they pass along their workbook to the new delegate. Extras will be printed if necessary.
  • An addendum to the workbook will be sent out and posted in September.

Election Information:

  • Elections for the Discipline Committee and Professional Committee will be conducted from the floor of Annual Council 2021 on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021.
