 Full Day Session • CWB Foundation - Advanced Techniques for Welding Educators
This hands-on workshop provides current Technological Educators with an opportunity to enhance your welding knowledge and practice your welding skills to bring back to your classrooms. Led by qualified instructors using CWB Education Resources, this workshop will provide you the opportunity to ask those burning questions and improve your technique. Participants will also learn about innovation in the industry and explore opportunities to prepare their students for the future workforce.

 Full Day Session • Canoe Session  at Lake George 

Brian Anderson, Jen Hall and Mike Crowtz are going to assist some people in getting their Paddle Canada Certification at Lake George in the Annapolis Valley! This is a very unique opportunity! In addition to conference fees, participants will have to pay approximately $100 to Paddle Canada and the course (details are still being worked out) may involve a second day (Saturday). What a way to spend a day! If you work in experiential education and include canoeing or adventure education in your routines, this is a must! Canoes, paddles and PFDs will be on site but you are also welcome to provide your own if you wish.

CTEANS is not covering the additional training and hotel costs but your school or region might. This session requires a minimum of 3 people and a cap of 8.

Mike Elliott is the NASP Coordinator for Nova Scotia, as well as a certified Basic Archery Instructor Trainer. He will introduce you to the National Archery in the Schools Program, a practical hands on introduction/Question and Answer to Archery in our NS Schools. This is NOT complete training but you will have a chance to safely shoot some arrows as well as learn more about the program and book training!

Come build and program some Robots! This session is geared towards educators in K-8 classrooms using the VEX 123, GO and IQ platforms. VEX Robotics is educational robotics for everyone. VEX solutions span all levels of both formal and informal education with accessible and scalable solutions. Beyond science and engineering principles, VEX encourages creativity, teamwork, leadership, and problem solving among groups. It allows educators of all types to engage and inspire the STEM problem solvers of tomorrow! Try them out and see if VEX robotics and computer science is a tool that you can use in your teaching!

Supporting Students with Career & Life Planning: Discovering Future Pathway Possibilities with myBlueprint This session will dive into strategies to support students as they move forward on their career and life planning journey. Using myBlueprint’s Education Planner, this session will discuss best practices to empower all students to make informed choices about their futures. Explore how students can investigate their future pathway possibilities, track their progress towards graduation and beyond, as well as compare and contrast post-secondary pathway opportunities. Engage in collaborative discussion with myBlueprint experts, celebrating and championing all career paths.

Cameron Strong is a teacher in the SSRCE who received a CTEANS grant to help with the completion of a greenhouse and community garden. Cameron's session will discuss the steps required to secure funding, work with community and the school and tackle such a huge project- as well as update us on his progress!

In this session you will get hands on coding activities at your level. The goal is to help you build confidence with coding basics and experience some of the great learning platforms out there. We will close the session with a group discussion about integrating coding content into your classrooms. This dynamic duo features Matt, a current computer programming 12 teacher and Adam, a former programming teacher turned software developer for a Candian startup and should provide useful tools as well as industry perspective.

Student-Centered Digital Documentation through Portfolios Engage and empower students to take ownership of their learning through digital documentation in portfolios with myBlueprint to support career and life planning. Have students take pride in showcasing their individual coursework and learning experiences, while providing concrete evidence of learning through a variety of multimedia options. Furthermore, use these portfolios as the basis for student-led conferences to discuss accomplishments and areas for growth with families. This session will explore the multitude of ways portfolios can be utilized, such as career planning, goal setting, pre-apprenticeship and more! Collaborate with colleagues about the importance of documentation by sharing best practices and key strategies to ensure reflection and feedback is incorporated throughout the learning journey.
