OTTAWA – The President of the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF) is pleased to announce that Sara Lafrance has been appointed to the position of Acting Director, Services to Francophones replacing Ronald Boudreau who will be on deferred salary leave between April 3, 2017 and March 31, 2018.

“In addition to her experience teaching in Quebec, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and British Columbia, Sara Lafrance has worked with the Nova Scotia Department of Education where she gained excellent knowledge of the challenges faced by teachers in minority settings. This makes her the ideal candidate for the job,” says CTF President Heather Smith. “Passionate about education, Sara is presently writing her doctoral thesis on education in French minority settings. We are very happy to welcome her to our team”.

Sara completed a Bachelor of Education and French Studies degree at the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi and a Master’s degree in teaching French as a first language in minority settings at Sainte-Anne University in Nova Scotia.

Founded in 1920, the CTF is a national alliance of provincial and territorial Member organizations that represent nearly 232,000 teachers across Canada. CTF is also a member of the 32-million member Education International. @@CanTeachersFed
