This October Conference, PISA welcomes Dr. George Georgiou! Dr. Georgiou’s presentation will focus on literacy acquisition, both the factors that facilitate or impede reading and spelling acquisition across languages. Diagnosis and remediation of reading difficulties in children will also be a focus of the presentation. PISA looks forward to seeing you at the NSTU October Conference 2023.

Keynote - Dr. George Georgiou

Dr. George Georgiou’s research explores early prevention and intervention of reading difficulties. He is the author of The Phonics Companion. In the last two years he was seconded to Alberta Education to oversee the development of the new English Language Arts curriculum and the standardization of early literacy screeners in English and French. He has received several awards including the Killam Professorship and the Alberta Teachers' Association Educational Research award. Because of the impact of his research, in 2018, he was inducted into the College of the Royal Society of Canada.
