NSTU Statement: Commission on Inclusive Education Report

“I want to thank the members of the Commission on Inclusive Education for their hard work and effort.

It is clear they conducted a full and thorough consultation and have captured the concerns teachers, parents, students and stakeholders have been voicing now for several years.

It was the NSTU that first brought the concept of an independent commission to look at inclusive education to the table. This would not have been possible without a considerable amount of effort on the part of teachers with the support of parents.

In many ways today’s report validates the stand that teachers have been taking over the past two years. We look forward to working with government and all stakeholders, to ensure the recommendations in this report are properly implemented.”
