Overview

In the Faculty of Education, MSVU offers summer courses both in regular format and also in “compressed” format during Summer session II (July). Most of the on campus Summer II offerings are scheduled in this compressed format. The major distinction between regular and compressed courses is that the latter is more compressed in terms of time than the former. Because of the shortened time frame, precourse work is a required aspect of all Summer session II courses; in the months before the start of the course, students must complete readings and/or assignments. Outlines for Summer session II courses as well as pre-course materials will be made available to students early in May.

In 2014, half unit courses will be held on campus from July 2 - 9 or July 11 - 18, with full unit courses from July 2 - 18. For each half unit of instruction, 36 hours of contact time with the instructor is required.  Scheduled study/work/reading time within the course time frame is also strongly encouraged to facilitate learning. Students may participate in one full unit of course work during the Summer session II time frame.

It is suggested that students consult with a program advisor when choosing courses to ensure that the courses meet the requirments of their program. If you have questions about Summer session II courses, please contact your program assistant (see contact information below).
